Date: February 22, 2017
Location: Rock Bay Shelter, Victoria
This month, in light of the recent fentanyl crisis, we are packing harm reduction kits at the Rock Bay Landing Shelter.
You will hear from their staff and learn about addictions, harm reduction, and public health. Come pack harm reduction supplies, including safer smoking and injection kits, which help to prevent the spread of potential deadly infections including HIV and Hep C.
Come to this event if you care about saving the lives of men and women experiencing homelessness and active addiction.
This event is open to all adults and youth. Invite a friend and learn more about our vibrant community and how we can all do some good together.
Edit: Almost 40 people came out to learn about harm reduction and how to reduce stigma about homelessness and drug use as well as to make much-needed harm reduction kits. There was alot of learning and connecting, and we were so productive that we ran out of supplies in an hour and made more harm reduction kits than we can count! Hundreds get used per week and they truly save lives.
What a fantastic caring group of people came out last night. A huge thank you to all of you who came. See Facebook for event pictures, and more details about the next event!
