Do Some Good with Habitat for Humanity Victoria

Another successful volunteer event, this time with Habitat For Humanity Victoria – ReStore! We were a small but mighty group and continued our streak of exceeding expectations of what a committed group of volunteers can get done in a few hours! We helped take down an old set of shelving and put up a new, more stable one. Also helped prepare Christmas decorations for sale at their ReStore to raise more money for them.

Are we committed to building community and protecting the environment? *If you are committed to volunteering for this event, please comment “I’m in” in the comments section below, as they are capping this volunteer event at 6 people.

Habitat for Humanity Victoria envisions a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.

They invited our group to spend a fun day in November to help build affordable housing and promote homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty by lending our hand at their Victoria ReStore location.

Jobs vary; you may be cutting extra-long baseboards into shorter pieces, painting walls, gardening, auditing products, packaging small items, etc. The job will be tailored to the skills and abilities of the group. For our event, they’d like us to help with painting a small bathroom, take down some box racking, and bag small hardware items, etc.

You are also encouraged to wear work clothes (and steel toed boots if you have them; they will be provided if you don’t) and bring your own water bottles – they have a water cooler on site.

They have a bike rack by the front door. People arriving by car can park directly behind Albrite Lighting.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and a parent/guardian signature is required for anyone under 19.
