Do Some Good Outdoors: Building Trails with Nature Trails Society

Thank you for having us on the trail, Nature Trails Society! Our group was smaller than usual but MIGHTY, and we were able to help build an entire foot-bridge from start to end in 6 hours! See pictures on Facebook for all the steps it took. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers and builders that came out and worked super hard. Thanks again for the support from Rotary Club of Downtown Victoria.

For our April event, we will be working with Nature Trails Society to build 2 bridges and a section of trail, at the end of Lost Lake Road off Millstream Road. Come ready to be hands-on with working with hand tools, raking and digging, and moving rocks, etc.

Victoria has an abundance of natural trails but these trails are not coordinated or connected to each other. The benefits of having a connected trail network in our backyard are vast: healthier and more connected communities, environmental stewardship and economic development opportunities. Nature Trails Society is a non-profit society with a mission to connect communities and making our world-class outdoors accessible for all ages, abilities, and experiences. Come to this event if you are passionate about the environment and the outdoors.

Thanks to Rotary Club of Downtown Victoria, there is no cost to attend this event. You will have an opportunity to meet their awesome members. Lunch and drinking water will also be provided by the Nature Trails Society.

This project is open to all adults, youths, and kids (12+) who are safe and responsible in a setting with heavy tools like axes and mattocks around. Invite your friends and family, make this a rewarding weekend outdoors activity, and learn more about how we can all do some good together.

Please wear sturdy boots, and bring gardening or work gloves if you have them. If the weather forecast is wet then also bring appropriate rain wear.

Thank you in advance for making our city even more vibrant!
